We are delighted to announce that Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant Jonny has achieved Chartered Member (C.WEM) status with the Chartered Institute of Water & Environmental Management (CIWEM). We are proud that we have been able to support him during his application process and consider it well deserved for the long hours and hard work put in to achieve this accomplishment.
Speaking of his achievement, Jonny said:
“My competencies were primarily focused on schemes for which I had been involved in delivering, including several interesting schemes where significant contamination was present requiring treatment and management. I quite enjoyed looking back at all the projects I have been involved with and thinking about the skills I had picked up which I had been unsure of previously. I have to thank James Nairn (ERGO), Danny Hope (Hydrock) & Robert Webster (Civic Engineers) for their help and feedback during the preparation of the submission and presentation as well as the team at ERGO and previously at WSP”.
The Chartered Institute of Water & Environmental Management is a professional body that has been active since 1895, receiving a Royal Charter in 1995. It is focused on the advancement of science and the practice of water and environmental resource management for sustainability.
Talking about joining the CIWEM, Jonny added:
“I found it quite difficult to choose which professional body to become a member of, having previously been a student member of the Institute of Environmental Management (IEMA). When researching options, Contaminated Land and Land Quality often falls between the bounds of several bodies with no perfect fit. I was pointed in the direction of CIWEM by Dave Watts, my previous line manager at WSP, and found that the outline seemed to fit quite nicely.
During the process, I was fortunate to take part in the CIWEM Fastrack to Chartership course which provided a lot of discussion and insight into the process and timeframes for submission. In the future I hope to become a Mentor or go for Chartered Environmentalist status as well.”
